The Karlsruhe-based dance group Dindi Dance Group will once again delight audiences with their rousing energy, enthusiasm and unmistakable Maharashtra swag. Their current performance takes the audience on an impressive journey back to the 17th century - to an India that suffered under centuries of foreign rule. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, one of the country's most visionary leaders, takes centre stage. With courage, foresight and the spirit of Swarajya (self-rule), he founded the Maratha Empire. The performance honours his legacy: his commitment to justice, his respect for women and his idea of a free, united kingdom. Carried by traditional music, colourful costumes and powerful choreography, the performance combines classical and folk elements of Maharashtra - a dance that conveys cultural pride, patriotism and timeless values in moving images.
