Accessibility at DAS FEST
DAS FEST is a family festival that aims to be equally accessible to everyone. We strive to remove barriers and obstacles for visitors with various disabilities.
If we have overlooked any barriers that prevent you from participating, please let us know: awareness_at_dasfest.de
Visitors with disabilities and those in wheelchairs require a standard ticket to enter the ticketed area of DAS FEST. If these individuals have the ‘B’ designation on their disability card, they may bring a necessary companion free of charge. The companion does not require a ticket.
Barrier-free access by public transport is possible via the ‘Europahalle / Europabad’ tram stop (line 4). There are a few disabled parking spaces available in the Europahalle area.
There is a barrier-free entrance at the Europahalle entrance. This entrance also provides barrier-free access to the wheelchair and inclusion platform.
There is another accessible entrance on Karl-Wolf-Weg, coming from Kühler Krug. The “Kühler Krug” tram stop (line 5) is also accessible.
The wheelchair and inclusion platforms are both located in the main stage area and are only accessible with a ticket.
The wheelchair platform is a barrier-free platform that provides a better view of the main stage. The wheelchair platform is an accessible area offering a better view of the main stage. The wheelchair platform is primarily reserved for visitors in wheelchairs and features a ramp and an accessible toilet. The German Red Cross (DRK) first-aid station is also located in the immediate vicinity. Please understand that, during busy periods, security staff may not allow accompanying persons onto the platform.
In addition, people with an ‘H’ mark on their severe disability card may board via the wheelchair platform, subject to availability. Here too, the decision is made by security staff at the relevant platforms depending on passenger numbers.
In addition to the wheelchair platform, there is an inclusion platform at DAS FEST. This is intended for people with disabilities who are not eligible for the wheelchair platform, as well as their relatives, if there is sufficient capacity.
It is not possible to reserve seats on the wheelchair and inclusion platforms.
The platforms can be reached via the entrance at the Europahalle (ticket entrance T2a) and then by keeping to the left of the tram tracks. Coming from the north, from the Kühlen Krug, you can reach the platforms via Karl-Wolf-Weg and through ticket entrance T10, to the left of the Cafébühne. Coming from Weinbrennerplatz, you can reach the platforms via Nordrandweg (Infomeile) and also via ticket entrance T10, to the left of the Cafébühne.
The exact location and route can also be found on our site map.
Wheelchair-accessible toilets are located at several points on the site. These are marked on the site map, which will be published on our website before the festival.
If you require medication or medical aids that need to be brought onto the premises, please notify us in advance. After reviewing your request, we will issue a special permit for you to bring them with you. You can register your medication and medical aids using the contact form or by emailing info_at_dasfest.de.
If medication needs to be refrigerated, it can be stored temporarily in our medical service's medication refrigerator.
People with a certified food intolerance may be granted special permission to bring their own food. To do so, a medical certificate confirming the food intolerance must be submitted in advance. This can be done either via the contact form or by emailing info_at_dasfest.de. Once we have reviewed the certificate, we will issue special permission for you to bring your own food.
In 2026, DAS FEST will be offering an assistance service for people with disabilities for the first time. You can make use of this service if you have a disability and would find attending DAS FEST more comfortable with an assistant, or if you do not feel confident attending without one. We are organising the assistance service as a pilot project this year.
The support staff are part of the City of Karlsruhe’s volunteer programme. They assist people with disabilities during their visit to DAS FEST and can help them with small tasks such as
- find your way around the site,
- to find facilities for people with disabilities, such as ramps and accessible toilets,
- to help people navigate through crowds,
- Pushing people in wheelchairs (if requested),
- to help with ordering food, drinks and merchandise,
- to enable visitors to take part in the exhibitors’ hands-on activities.
Please note: This service cannot replace professional carers who have medical or nursing training. This means that tasks such as helping with toilet visits or meals, or providing medical assistance, are not included in the support service.
This offer is valid only during the DAS FEST days (Thursday–Sunday, 23–26 July 2026), not during DAS FEST AM SEE or DAS FEST im Schlachthof.
Would you like to use this service? If so, please send an email to awareness_at_dasfest.de with the following details: the date and time you would like a companion, information about your disability (optional), a few words about what you expect from your companion and your time at DAS FEST. The deadline for registration is 30 June 2026.
Important: DAS FEST is organising this service for the first time. As we have no previous experience with this, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to find an escort for everyone who registers. We will contact everyone who registers by email by 9 July 2026 to let them know whether or not we can offer them an escort.
For people who feel unwell or need assistance during their visit, mobile awareness teams and paramedics are on site and can be approached at any time. In addition, an Awareness Team is always on hand at the Awareness Point during opening hours; this is located next to the information stand on Karl-Wolf-Weg. Further information about our awareness work can be found here.
