DAS FEST - a success story
Every year, up to 250,000 visitors of all ages gather at the Günther Klotz Park in Karlsruhe on the last weekend before the summer holidays in Baden-Württemberg – i.e. at the end of July – to celebrate DAS FEST. Held since 1985, DAS FEST is the largest family festival in southern Germany.
Our guests at ‘Mount Klotz’
Well-known artists such as Rea Garvey, Clueso, The BossHoss, Seeed, Peter Fox, Max Giesinger, Juli, Silbermond, Wanda, Faithless, PUR, Fury in the Slaughterhouse, Element of Crime, Apocalyptica, Guano Apes, New Model Army, Tito & Tarantula, Bananafishbones, BAP, Such A Surge, Gentleman, Chumbawamba, H-Blockx, Ska-P, Fünf Sterne deluxe, Simple Minds, Beatsteaks, Sunrise Avenue, Die Fantastischen Vier and Denyo have all performed at Mount Klotz over the years.
The organisers' goal differs significantly from that of other major German festivals, as they aim to appeal to and entertain all sections of the population, regardless of age and income.
For children and families, there is a children's and culture area where the little ones can play, splash around and experience little adventures under supervision. The sports area hosts the annual FEST Cup in skateboarding and BMX. For fun sports enthusiasts, the sports area in the Sparda Sports Park offers all kinds of other activities. Intergenerational offerings include the culture and field stage, the FEST floor with DJ beats and, on Sunday mornings, the classical breakfast on the main stage. The mix of young and old creates the unique ‘FEST atmosphere’ that is praised and appreciated by many visitors.
