DAS FEST at Schlachthof at 23 July
Rest day in the “Klotze” - FEST atmosphere at Alter Schlachthof
On Wednesday, 23 July 2025, DAS FEST will be coming to the Alter Schlachthof with a diverse programme – the place where the DAS FEST team has been planning and developing Karlsruhe's summer highlight for over a decade.
Our cultural partners Alte Hackerei, FETTSCHMELZE, Minestrone @ Substage, TOLLHAUS, alina café, tostino, Aurum Eventlocation, Carls Wirtshaus, EAT & GREET, Jazzclub and maschinenhaus have put together a varied musical and culinary programme and look forward to celebrating the final warm-up for the big DAS FEST weekend with you!
It starts at 5pm! Free admission!
➤ Program:
alina café
Sandwiches & drinks 6:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
Alte Hackerei:
Doors open: 6 p.m. | Start: 8 p.m.
Live music starts at 8 p.m. with Liberry Space: What began two years ago as a pure funk project quickly and naturally developed into a cover band of a different kind. Liberry Space is a musical surprise package, a sound laboratory with guaranteed groove. For two years, the collective has been tinkering with well-known songs with a great deal of enthusiasm for experimentation, mixing styles such as funk, soul, jazz, pop, rock, hip hop, Balkan and Latin, and giving classics a new sound. The main thing is that it grooves, is fun and surprises!
At DAS FEST im Schlachthof, the band is also taking on a new challenge with a smaller line-up: Lenny Käfer on guitar and loop station and Janina Guptill on vocals will transform their repertoire into a compact, creative set – danceable, dynamic and surprisingly versatile.
Of course, there will be delicious food, including bratwurst, currywurst and summer rolls (all vegan options available) in the beautiful and shady beer garden, as well as tasty drinks at the bar.
Aurum Event Location:
Start: 6:00 p.m.
Starting at 6:00 p.m., a real highlight awaits you at Aurum: Helena Fin and her fantastic band will provide the finest live music and summer vibes.
Come by, grab a cool drink and enjoy an unforgettable evening – great music, good vibes and summer feeling guaranteed! There will also be a street food station with Sri Lankan takeaway food.
Carls Wirthaus
Dinner from 5 p.m.
Live music starts at 8 p.m.
Beer and jazz
Carls Wirtshaus offers a fine and exquisite selection of beers, including non-alcoholic draught beers, as well as a good range of contemporary dishes and plenty of cosy corners to relax in. The Karlsruhe band Véliz Quintett will be playing a mix of jazz and funk on the terrace from around 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Young jazz made in Karlsruhe! The group adds an infectious vibe to classic swing, quiet ballads, exotic Latin and groovy funk. A unique dynamic develops between the band members at every performance. Join us and enjoy an evening full of spontaneous moments and unexpected twists.
DAS FEST
DAS FEST will also be there again this year. In the office of KME Karlsruhe Marketing und Event GmbH, where DAS FEST is organised throughout the year, there will be a DAS FEST information stand where visitors can purchase the last tickets for the weekend and obtain all the information they need about DAS FEST and DAS FEST im Schlachthof. Justin Nova will provide musical entertainment on our Cola Rosa stage.
Over 30 years on stage and more than 3,000 concerts have made Justin Nova an expressive performer. He won the Radio Regenbogen Award back in 2003 and subsequently toured throughout Germany, Switzerland and Ireland. Whether with the Justin Nova Band, solo or with the Curbside Prophets, his concerts are always spontaneous, authentic and exciting. And since he has already rocked the stage at the ‘Fest am See’ (pre-festival) eight times and the main stage three times, he is the perfect fit for this kick-off event!
You can look forward to an exciting acoustic solo concert featuring songs from Cash to Sheeran, Marley to Seeed, Coldplay to Maroon 5.
Tip: The audience is also welcome to request songs from him in person.
FETTSCHMELZE:
Start: 5 p.m.
Live music: 8:30 p.m.
Delicious pizza made from our homemade FETTI dough. Enjoy cool drinks in the city's most beautiful backyard and live music with Nuria Noba starting at 8:30 p.m.
Nuria Noba is a singer, rapper and jazz vocalist from Stuttgart who captivates audiences with her powerful lyrics and unique sound. Influenced by her skills on keyboard and string instruments, she combines pop, jazz, hip-hop and rap to create music that moves and inspires reflection. Jazzclub
Performance times: 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. & 9:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
The Hammond smacks, the drums rumble and the strings steam when keyboardist Martin Meixner, drummer Daniel Mudrack and guitarist Christoph Neuhaus from MXDMCN - The New Organ Trio take off into their world of virtuoso jazz and soul. Three outstanding musicians from southern Germany have a special connection and share a common mission: Spread the music & feel the vibe! The groove is kept simmering as the trio skilfully manoeuvres between impetuous and gentle. A true ‘band of brothers’ in the historic Hammond Trio format, they strike a chord in the heart with style and emotion.

THE BLACK SEA SHIPPING COMPANY
Something cold in your straw, mosquitoes buzzing, it's muggy, your body is limp – Karlsruhe in summer. But then music in your ears and soon in your legs, provided by Black Sea Shipping Company. Their songs do not deny their roots in Klezmer, Balkan and Roma music – but they have now merged with ragtime, swing, blues and Americana to create a unique blend. Doesn't that go together? Of course it does! The joy of trying something new and sometimes listening to dark, eerie, melancholic melodies and lyrics bursts forth in every wake. You don't have to bring the desire to dance with you, it comes all by itself.
Black Sea Shipping Company are Thomas Neukirchner (violin & vocals), Barbara Kohl (vocals, saxophone & flute), Christian Kögele (banjo & double bass), Friedemann Lange (vocals, guitar & double bass) and Wolfgang Müller (drums).
tostino
Start: 7:30 p.m.
Fancy a taste of la dolce vita? Lorenzo de Cunzo (vocals/clarinet) and Tarek El Barbari (piano/vocals) bring the sound of Naples to the Alter Schlachthof – from the swinging ‘Tu vuo fà l'Americano’ to touching pop ballads such as ‘Tu si na cosa grande’ and operatic hits such as ‘Torna a Surriento’. Music for the heart and soul that takes listeners on a journey to the south. To complete the Mediterranean feeling, there will be the finest coffee and fresh drinks from TOSTINO.
