‘The most important thing is that it gets the party started,’ says the Karlsruhe band, which has been in party mode for a quarter of a century. With a full line-up, the six-piece band, joined by the four brass players of the Funky Horns, stops off at DAS FEST AM SEE on its musical journey between Karlsruhe and Kingston. From reggae and ska to German hip hop, rock, pop, soul and funk, they offer everything that goes straight to your ears and legs. Songs by Seeed, Amy Winehouse, Fettes Brot and the Jackson Five have just as much of a place here as tracks by Jamiroquai, Querbeat, the Busters, the Fantastischen Vier and Jan Delay. ‘When you look out from the stage and see people smiling broadly at you, you know you're doing something right,’ say the Funkies, defining their happiness at being able to make music together first and foremost through their relationship with the audience.
