DAS FEST begins on July 19th, 2014 with the festival’s pre-week in the Günther-Klotz-Anlage in Karlsruhe. The Europahalle is part of the festival venue.
Please be environment-friendly and come to DAS FEST by bicycle, bus or train. The public transportation connections to DAS FEST are very easy.

WALKWAY FROM THE CENTRAL TRAIN STATION
Pedestrians can enjoy a very beautiful walk at the Alb River along the Günther-Klotz-Anlage (approx. 2.7 km or 40 min). When you leave the central station, turn left next to the taxi stop through Victor-Gollancz-Strasse. After about 250 m, cross Schwarzwaldstrasse (there should be an underpass to your left) and walk across the “Altbahnhof“ (old train station). Approx. 100 m afterwards, continue to the allotment gardens on your left (behind the “Stephanienbad” building).
The direct walkway should lead you to Ebertstrasse and from there to Hermann-Veit-Strasse which ends directly at the Europahalle. The Tram 1 stop is right at the festival venue. However, this tram line does not come directly from the station; you would have to change trams along the way. The visitors from Durlach (for example, the campers) should take Tram 1.
The bicycle is the most eco-friendly way to get to DAS FEST. To make your trip easier, we present you the following form with suggestions of the best route to take from your starting point.
„Das Fest“ in Karlsruhe: trams will be running more frequently
Due to the event of „Das Fest“ held in the Günther-Klotz-Anlage from Friday, July 25th until Sunday, July 27th, the transportation company “Verkehrsbetriebe Karlsruhe (VBK)” will have its trams drive more frequently and arrange night and circle lines so that the visitors may enjoy a trouble-free transportation with the public network.
-> Line 1 will drive with 10-minute intervals all day long between Durlach Turmberg and Oberreut Badeniaplatz.
> At the beginning of the main concerts, additional trams will be available on all three days of the festival: Line 1 daily between 5:00 pm and 9:00 pm from “Mühlburger-Tor” over “Schillerstraße” and “Weinbrennerplatz” to the Europahalle.
-> Line 2 will also run daily between 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm with the support of emergency vehicles. Thus, the trip from the main station through Welfenstrasse to the Center of Art and Media (ZKM) in Karlsruhe will be better.
-> From 9:00 pm until 1:00 am, the additional trams will be running until the end of the main concerts from Badeniaplatz to the Europahalle through Schillerstrasse, Europaplatz, Marktplatz, Kronenplatz, Rüppurrer Tor, Konzerthaus, Mathystrasse, Arbeitsagentur, ZKM, Welfenstrasse to the main station (Haupt-bahnhof Vorplatz).
-> The nightly 30-minute intervals of line 5 will be turned into a 20-minute interval on all three nights of the festival. Thus, the transportation connections after 11:30 pm will be better. Furthermore, the operating times of this line will be extended until 1:30 am on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night.
Quick, comfortable, and CO2-emissions-free transportation to the festival with the BahnCard. You can find all connections under www.bahn.de. BahnCard holders travelling over 100 km are granted a City-ticket allowing them to take the tram to the festival venue for free.
Our tip: the best rates can be found under www.bahn.de/sparpreisfinder.
Please keep in mind that you can come to the festival by bus or train in a comfortable and eco-friendly way!
Considering that DAS FEST does not have any of its own parking lots and the adjacent parking areas are insufficient, we generally recommend public transportation. Those who still wish to come by car should set the Europahalle as target on their GPS (Hermann-Veit-Str. 7, 76135 Karlsruhe). Or you could search for a ride…which saves the environment and can be fun!
CAR SHARING?! – SURE! WHY NOT!
It would be best to take a look at the platform www.mitreisen.net to find who else is going to DAS FEST. That would be more fun and help you all to reduce the costs!!
You can also search other platforms for possible car sharing opportunities:
FROM THE A5 MOTORWAY
recommended –starting from the A5 Karlsruhe MITTE (center)
- take the so-called “Südtangente” (south expressway) to the K9657 towards Landau. Take exit 6 towards Bannwaldallee and turn LEFT at the light towards Bannwaldallee then go straight -> Caution! Please do not return onto the highway but go right onto the Bannwaldalle – this is an industrial zone.
This is definitely the best option because most people go to the Europahalle. Here, you will find enough parking spaces along the Bannwaldallee and its side streets.
The little pedestrian bridges over the Bannwaldallee will lead you directly to the festival grounds.
not recommended – starting from the A5 Karlsruhe MITTE (center)
- take the so-called “Südtangente” (south expressway) – to the K9657 – towards Landau
- Take exit 4/5 to the Europahalle
- then turn left right away into Herrman-Veit-Strasse
- there are some parking spaces.
This option is not recommendable because the parking places near the Europahalle get filled quickly (the Europahalle is DIRECTLY at the festival).
FROM THE A65 MOTORWAY
Please see above– the only difference is that you would be coming from the other side, but you should take the “Südtangente” regardless of the direction you will be coming from.
CO2 EMISSIONS CALCULATION
Ever since the beginning of DAS FEST, we have been asking visitors to use public transportation. In order to raise awareness of their own CO2 emissions, DAS FEST offers its visitors, for the first time this year, an online CO2 emissions calculator, so that they may calculate how much CO2 they emit with their car. The CO2 emissions calculator is designed to raise awareness about this issue.
